EYE EXAMS FOR EVERY STAGE OF LIFE

Your vision needs change throughout your life. Regular eye exams help assess your eyesight and identify signs of certain eye conditions, sometimes before noticeable symptoms develop.

Children’s Eye Exams

Clear vision plays an important role in learning, reading and everyday activities. Children's eye exams assess visual development and help identify vision concerns that may affect school and daily life.

Adult Eye Exams

Even if you see clearly, regular eye exams help monitor your vision and overall eye health. We assess your prescription, evaluate your eyes and discuss any concerns, including headaches, blurred vision or eye strain.

Senior Eye Exams

As we age, our risk of developing certain eye conditions increases. Regular examinations help monitor age-related changes and identify concerns that may require further assessment or treatment.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING AN EYE EXAM?

  1. Patient History & Symptoms
We discuss your symptoms, medical history, medications, family history and any concerns about your vision.

  2. Visual Acuity and Prescription Assessment
We evaluate how clearly you see and determine whether you may benefit from an updated glasses or contact lens prescription.

  3. Eye Coordination and Focusing
We assess how your eyes work together and focus, when clinically indicated.

  4. Eye Pressure Assessment

We examine relevant structures of the eye and assess for signs of conditions that may require monitoring, additional testing or referral.

  5. Eye Health Examination
We examine relevant structures of the eye and assess for signs of conditions that may require monitoring, additional testing or referral.

  6. Personalized Recommendations
We explain our findings and discuss the next steps for your vision care, including prescriptions, follow-up appointments or further assessment when needed.

The tests performed may vary according to your age, symptoms, medical history and clinical needs.

Your appointment is tailored to your vision, health history and individual needs. Depending on your circumstances, your examination may include:

OHIP COVERAGE AND PRIVATE INSURANCE

Coverage for eye examinations depends on your age, medical circumstances and the applicable Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) eligibility criteria.

Some eligible children, seniors and adults with specified medical conditions may qualify for covered eye examinations. Eligibility, frequency and any applicable restrictions vary.

Private insurance plans may also cover some or all of the cost of an eye exam, depending on your benefits.

Please contact Cooksville Eyecare before your appointment to confirm your eligibility, coverage and any fees that may apply.
