Contact lenses are indicated for people who need to correct the degree of refraction of the eyes for different reasons, such as myopia, astigmatism and hyperopia or for other eye problems that compromise vision, such as Keratoconus and other irregularities of the corneal surface. Its different types can suit the needs of each patient.
Prescription contact lenses are indicated for patients with refractive errors, which cause the following vision problems:
Myopia – blurred vision at a distance.
Farsightedness – blurred vision at close range.
Astigmatism – blurred vision at any distance.
Presbyopia – tired eyes, common after the age of 40.
When are lenses not a good option?
The use of contact lenses is not indicated for patients with dry eye syndrome, chronic infections or ocular allergies. In addition, they are also not recommended for elderly patients with low mobility or memory difficulties, as limitations can hinder the correct and safe use of the lenses.
